Remarks at the 2009 Healthy Schools Program Forum

Foundation President and CEO Risa Lavizzo-Mourey, M.D., M.B.A., joined former President Bill Clinton at the Fourth Annual Healthy Schools Program Forum in New York.

Lavizzo-Mourey congratulated the 114 schools being recognized for creating healthier environments for students and staff. The RWJF-supported program was established in 2006 by the Alliance for a Healthier Generation—a joint partnership of the American Heart Association and the William J. Clinton Foundation—to help schools develop and implement policies and practices to promote healthy eating and increase physical activity.

"Two years ago, I stood before a similar gathering, with President Clinton and Dr. Dan Jones, Dr. (Clyde) Yancy’s predecessor at the American Heart Association, to congratulate 26 schools for earning bronze recognition," said Lavizzo-Mourey. "Twenty-six… that was a great start! To be at 114 schools just two years later is a terrific accomplishment."
