From 2000 to 2004, researchers with the Gerontological Society of America created and disseminated two series of data profiles designed to heighten awareness about issues affecting people with chronic conditions.

  • The research team published and disseminated two series of 24 data profiles designed to heighten awareness about issues affecting people with chronic conditions such as including hearing loss, arthritis, diabetes, heart disease and chronic back pain.

  • The team published and disseminated seven issue briefs covering such topics as:

    • Cultural competence and its role in the treatment of people with chronic conditions.
    • Whether disease management programs improve health and reduce costs.
  • The team created a website that includes the data profiles and issue briefs created under the current project.
