New Logo and Trail Signs Identify 2,600-Mile East Coast Greenway Urban Walking and Biking Trail

Improving the East Coast Greenway trail to enhance opportunities for physical activity, recreation, and transportation

The East Coast Greenway Alliance created a logo and trail signs to promote the use of the East Cost Greenway, a 2,600-mile urban walking and biking trail that will link cities and towns from Maine to Florida.

The East Coast Greenway, currently under construction, is designed to increase Americans' access to spaces for physical activity.

Key Results

With the RWJF grant, the East Coast Greenway Alliance:

  • Developed a trail identity system that includes two types of trail markers (a larger marker for trailheads and key entry points and a smaller marker to be posted along the route as continuing trail identification).
  • Distributed 1,000 trail markers to trail managers of completed sections of the trail.

Funding

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) provided $63,672 to support this project from February 2002 to April 2003.
