In 2001, the Morehouse School of Medicine held a conference on racial and ethnic disparities in health status in the Southeastern United States.

Key Results:

  • The conference, entitled "Optimal Outcomes in Primary Care: Reducing Health Disparities in Our Practice and in the Communities We Serve—Looking Towards 'Healthy People 2010,'" took place on March 8–10, 2001, in Atlanta, Ga.

    The conference drew 420 participants representing 11 states, eight of which were located in the Southeastern United States.
