1998 Conference and Guide Encourage Quality Educational Children's Television Programming

Promotion of quality educational children's television programming

Mediascope, a national nonprofit public policy organization, conducted a three-part campaign in 1998 and 1999 designed to encourage the U.S. television community to adopt quality educational children's programming.

Key Results

  • Printed and distributed Building Blocks: A Guide for Creating Children's Educational Television.
  • Held a breakfast meeting at which FCC Senior Legal Counsel Susan Fox spoke about the guide as a resource.
  • Produced an Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Conference entitled "Through the Eyes of Children."


The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) supported this project with a grant of $73,908 from June 1998 through June 1999.
