Nonpartisan Forums Brief Legislators on Health Care Topics

Forums on health and health care issues for New Jersey policy-makers

From 1992 to 1997, the League of Women Voters of New Jersey Education Fund created the nonpartisan Capitol Forums on Health and Medical Care, which provide the Governor's Office staff, state legislators and legislative staff, department commissioners and their staff, and other key decision-makers with analysis and research on key health and health care issues.

Key Results

  • Twenty-two forums were held for New Jersey state legislators and their staffs, staff in the governor's office, department commissioners and their staff, and other stakeholders in the state, including representatives of the New Jersey Medical Society and the New Jersey Hospital Association.

Since the project's inception in 1993, attendance at the Capitol Forums steadily increased from about 25 participants initially to between 50 and 60.

Funding

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) supported this project through three grants totaling $250,499.
