Feeding Her Children, But Risking Her Health

This study examines the negative correlation between weight related to food insecurity for mothers and non-mothers. Food insecure mothers are more likely to be overweight and obese than their childfree female counterparts. Single mothers are more likely to experience food insecurity compared to married or cohabitating mothers.

An exploration of stigma, coercion and treatment for mental illness offered supportive evidence for the coercion to beneficial treatment and the coercion to detrimental stigma perspectives. Future treatment approaches should attempt to reduce perceptions of coercion for those receiving treatment.
