Implications of Geographic Variation in Access to Kidney Transplantation


End stage renal disease care patterns vary significantly across transplantation referral regions, regardless whether or not a patient receives a transplant.

When researchers analyzed the effectiveness of care in 113 geographically defined transplant referral regions, they found a three-fold variation in the rate of listing for transplantation for people with end stage renal disease.
