In the Foreword to this year's Anthology, Risa Lavizzo-Mourey, president and CEO of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) presents the Foundation's work improving the health and health care of our most vulnerable populations.

The Vulnerable Populations portfolio was created by RWJF in 2003 as part of a reorganization that took place shortly after it announced a new impact framework designed to make its work more strategic. The Vulnerable Populations programs highlighted in this volume of the Anthology provide a glimpse into the Foundation's work to improve the health of the neediest of our residents.
