A 122-page guide to research on underage, high-risk drinking behaviors at colleges prepared with the assistance of 17 authorities in the field, including Henry Wechsler, Traci Toomey, Toben Nelson, Robert Saltz, Elissa Weitzman, George Hacker, and Frank Chaloupka. Offers higher education administrators and practitioners a summary of current research findings and proven interventions and policies. Other material includes web sites, expert contact information, evidence-based research, and program funding sources.

RWJF’s C. Tracy Orleans, Ph.D., distinguished fellow and senior scientist, and five other national experts moderated a 90-minute webinar on December 13, 2009, that introduced a 122-page guide to preventing high risk drinking on college campus. Other guest lecturers in the webinar included:
•Jonathan C. Gibralter, Ph.D, President, Frostburg State University, who gave a brief overview of the problem from an on-the-ground perspective.
• Ralph Hingson, Sc.D., M.P.H., Senior Scientist at NIAAA, who spoke about the general landscape of underage high-risk drinking as a public health risk, along with outlining the magnitude of the problem and the range of options of available to curb its affects.
• Robert Saltz, Ph.D, Pacific Institute for Research and Evaluation who shared his thoughts on community-level interventions.
• Linda Major, Project Director for NuDirections, who outlined the organization’s community coalition program.
• William DeJong , Ph.D, Professor, Department of Community Health Sciences at the Boston University School of Public Health, who shared thoughts on individually oriented programs.
