Magnet Recognition is accorded to hospitals and other facilities that meet the highest standards of nursing practice, as identified by the American Nursing Association.
Under the grant, the American Nurses Credentialing Center:
- Built a Web-based data collection system to better assess and understand the impact of the Magnet Recognition program.
- Gathered data on key characteristics of hospitals and facilities granted Magnet Recognition, as well as data on hospitals that were rejected.
- On the Web-based interface, created an option for Magnet program applicants to apply online.
The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) provided $136,378 to help develop the database between January and December 2003.
