Maximizing the number of Latinos enrolled in coverage under the Affordable Care Act, 2013-2014

This grant supports the National Council of La Raza (NCLR) in bolstering efforts to educate and enroll Latinos in health coverage under options made available by the Affordable Care Act (ACA). NCLR will leverage its strong networks, including an affiliate membership of nearly 300 community-based organizations in key implementation states, to help drive enrollment activities that effectively reach Latinos. NCLR will assist enrollment efforts by developing products, information, and activities designed to help Latinos and community-based organizations overcome enrollment challenges. Furthermore, NCLR will align its enrollment work with that of other national organizations, including Enroll America and Community Catalyst, at the core of campaigns to coordinate and help ensure a sustained effort after the initial 2013-2014 enrollment period. Deliverables include: trainings about overcoming barriers to enrollment in the Latino community; five webinars that train enrollment workers on issues specific to the Latino community; questions and answers that address common enrollment questions in the Latino community; two tele-townhalls to educate Latinos about ACA; distribution of educational materials to inform health care consumers about ACA; and a written assessment to enhance future ACA enrollment efforts.
