Developing a conceptual framework on mental health in children and youths that includes positive factors crucial to adult well-being
This grant supports development of a research brief that synthesizes the literature on mental health and develops a conceptual framework of mental health development and wellness during childhood. The grantee will begin by drafting a preliminary conceptual framework of mental health and wellness, articulating the factors that are critical for healthy development. This preliminary framework will guide the literature review and synthesis. The grantee will interview 20 experts in mental health policy who will identify gaps in the articulated framework and literature review and the opportunities for policy and intervention. The literature review and interviews will help the team refine the conceptual model. This work will culminate in a research brief and policy brief. All the work will be done in close collaboration with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and the resulting briefs will be co-branded.
