Advancing accreditation for the Illinois Department of Public Health
The Foundation's initiative, Advancing Accreditation in Large Jurisdictions, was designed to supply financial and technical assistance to big cities and states to catalyze application to the Public Health Accreditation Board for accreditation of their public health agencies.This grant will enable the Illinois Department of Public Health to accelerate its readiness to apply for national accreditation by the Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB). The objectives are to: (1) develop and implement a performance-management system encompassing how services are delivered and how resources are used, and measuring how well outcomes are being achieved; (2) establish an accreditation and self-assessment team, delegate responsibilities, and develop a time line; (3) assemble all documentation required for agency accreditation and enter it in an electronic filing system; and (4) submit a statement of intent to apply for accreditation to PHAB before December 1, 2014. The deliverables will consist of documentation of each of these activities.
