Support for the YMCA's Pioneering Healthier Communities' state policy-change initiative around childhood obesity, Phase 2

This grant supports the YMCA of the USA (Y-USA) to select and provide technical and nonlobbying financial assistance to 14 YMCA state alliances to serve as catalysts and conveners within their states to advance or enforce policies that reverse the childhood obesity epidemic. Y-USA will disseminate the successes, opportunities, and challenges learned from this project to other state alliances to foster the engagement of these state-level infrastructures in policy-change efforts. The project will develop and implement a competitive process for selecting the 14 state alliances and will convene them for training, group assistance, and peer learning. Y-USA will provide technical assistance to each state alliance to design, execute, and monitor a state action plan that will define its policy objectives and guide its activities. Y-USA will not use Robert Wood Johnson Foundation funds for lobbying.
