Exploring the role of public health and the use of population health information in e-health's next decade
This project will convene an expert committee to produce a white paper that will inform federal, state, and local public health leaders on how to make strategic decisions about developing, delivering and applying population health information in the coming decade. Technology is rapidly changing the ways that population health information is collected, organized and communicated. Such changes include electronic health records, social media, and cloud and mobile computing, all of which increase the demand for rapid delivery of information that readily translates data into action. The committee will develop strategic plans for different scenarios for the future, with the help of a scenario-planning consultant. The final product will be the white paper, which the Public Health Informatics Institute will disseminate to federal, state, local and tribal public health leaders and policymakers.
