Establishing the Eleanor Chelimsky Forum at the Eastern Evaluation Research Society's annual conference
This grant supports the Eleanor Chelimsky Forum at the annual Eastern Evaluation Research Society (EERS) conference for five years. The purpose of the forum, named after the retired director of evaluation at the federal General Accountability Office, is to surface common issues raised by evaluation theorists and practitioners for rethinking, comment, criticism, and debate. The 90-minute forum will feature two well known authorities in the field of evaluation who will discuss new or persistent problems in the fit between theory and practice, including proposals for resolution of problems. The EERS organizing committee will work with the speakers to specify topics in advance. Each speaker will also prepare short manuscripts for publication in a peer-reviewed evaluation journal within one month after the forum. In addition, online tools such as the EERS and Robert Wood Johnson Foundation websites will publicize the conference proceedings. The first forum will be April 15, 2013, and each conference thereafter will take place on the first day of the EERS annual conference in 2014 through 2017. The forum will repeat each year, using other funds from the authorization.
