Technical assistance and direction for RWJF's Partners Investing in Nursing's Future program

The Foundation's program, Partners Investing in Nursing's Future (PIN), was designed to address nursing issues important to those at the local and state levels. The goals of the PIN program are to: (1) support innovative and collaborative projects that address local and state nursing issues; (2) increase the capacity of local foundations to solve nursing problems; and (3) develop regional learning networks among partner foundations to improve the health and health care of Americans. PIN has completed six funding cycles. PIN is unique in providing funding directly to local grantmaking foundations to coordinate projects and programs developed in collaboration with nursing leaders and other community partners. Projects with multiple funding partners have been found to be the most successful. The success of the PIN projects has proven that the model of a diverse and deep partnership between philanthropy, nursing, and other community partners can advance beneficial changes in the nursing workforce. The grantee serves as the national program office for PIN and provides extensive technical assistance to each funding partner (grantee) in order to ensure successful project implementation and effective collaboration and to identify and measure project and partnership outcomes. NWHF also hosts an annual meeting for the partners to share challenges, successes and lessons learned.
