Engaging leaders of private and public health systems in support of comprehensive proposals to contain health care costs

This grant supports the National Coalition on Health Care (NCHC) in its efforts to engage leaders of public and private health systems in the challenge of constraining rising health care costs. NCHC is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization with nearly 90 organizational members who are broadly representative of the entire health care system and whose organizations represent more than 100 million Americans. NCHC is developing a package of policy proposals to slow health spending growth that has been carefully vetted with its members and other key stakeholders and experts. This one-time project will support NCHC's efforts to receive final input on its proposals, publicly release the package, and then conduct meetings to educate key stakeholders, such as providers, consumer advocates, representatives of health plans, and employers about the proposals. Deliverables will include five meetings, associated materials, and a process evaluation. This project supports the national policy environment necessary to support efforts of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation's Quality/Equality team in targeted regions to improve health care quality and reduce costs, and it is also relevant to the efforts of the Foundation's Enterprise Cost Workgroup.
