Strengthening the nation's commitment to prevention and public health
This grant supports Trust for America's Health (TFAH) in strengthening the nation's commitment to prevention and public health. To accomplish this, TFAH will build wide support for a strong public health system; advance a population-health perspective in the implementation of health reform; make the case for public health and prevention; and expand the advocacy base of the prevention movement. As part of these efforts, TFAH will conduct policy analysis, host consensus-building convenings, produce timely issue reports, and use strategic communications and a range of advocacy tactics. Deliverables will include: (1) development, dissemination, and policy outreach related to three annual reports, at least two issue briefs, and Healthier America 2012, a blueprint document for the next presidential term; (2) ongoing coordination with public health leaders, advocates and partners on advocacy priorities and activities; and (3) ongoing policy and media-relations activities to increase federal support for public health and prevention. TFAH will not use Robert Wood Johnson Foundation dollars for lobbying.
