Salud America! The RWJF Research Network to Prevent Obesity Among Latino Children

The Foundation's program, Salud America! The RWJF Research Network to Prevent Obesity Among Latino Children, was designed to stimulate and support investigator-initiated research and build a field of researchers focused on preventing obesity among Latino children.Under this grant, Salud America! will develop an advocacy platform to activate and fuel a geographically focused audience of activists and stakeholders to address the epidemic of childhood obesity among Latinos. The program will capitalize on its widespread name recognition and network of over 2,000 Latino community leaders and researchers. Specifically, the program will: (1) expand its reputation as a national Latino health brand; (2) expand and enhance the network via new growth, evidence generation through systematic reviews and advocacy partnerships; (3) develop an online "LCO advocacy platform" in consultation with the RWJF communications team; (4) develop a Research Expert Team to interpret/build evidence and content to fuel advocacy; (5) produce dynamic multimedia products to feed the network, advocacy platform, etc.; and (6) monitor and evaluate the impact of these activities. Salud America! is committed to working in harmony with the national advocacy strategy being created by RWJF. Deliverables include an expanded network, targeted research as needed and repurposed research and other information to fuel the advocacy platform, the completed online platform, and an evaluation report on the impact of these activities.
