This grant will enable the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) Pioneer Portfolio to collaborate with Changemakers to source ideas from social innovators in health and health care. Changemakers is a nonprofit affiliate of Ashoka, which, with RWJF funding, developed one of the first online platforms for collaborative competitions to identify cutting-edge health and health care ideas from around the world. Recently, Changemakers evolved a new platform, Changeshops, that allows innovators to post and vet ideas online, but which also provides tools for them to build teams based on these ideas, problem solve, develop a business case for seeking resources, and track and report progress and impact. The platform will feature the Pioneer Portfolio's own page, describing the work of the Foundation and the portfolio. RWJF will have control over the content of this page. Changemakers will then match innovators on the site to the RWJF portal, using an automated tagging functionality, as well as a screening process used by the Changemakers team. The matching process and list will be offline, and RWJF will have responsibility for initiating conversations with innovators. However, the portal will connect all innovators to Pioneer's open call for proposals. Deliverables will include a list of potential innovator matches (including a contact and an abstract of the project) on a periodic basis over the course of the year.
