Updating and expanding the Stony Brook-Millstone Watershed Reserve campus, Phase 2
Although the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation became a national philanthropy in 1972 and has operated on a national scale since then, it also has continued funding a limited number of local institutions and projects in the New Brunswick area and throughout New Jersey. It does so in part to honor the legacy of its founder, and in part to recognize the special responsibilities to the communities and the state in which it is located. This grant supports capital improvements to transform the Stony Brook-Millstone Watershed Association (Association) campus. To be completed in 12 to 18 months, the project will include a new multipurpose facility, a new network of trails, and other on-site capital improvements. This project will more than double the amount of classroom space available, to increase the capacity of community programs and to attract additional visitors, and will strengthen the Association's advocacy, science and education efforts, to improve the health and quality of Central New Jersey's water and sustain a network of protected habitats for wildlife and people.
