Assessing the impact of access to insurance on the effect of childhood trauma on at-risk adults
This project will examine whether access to insurance positively impacts adult health outcomes for individuals who experienced childhood trauma. The project will build upon the Oregon Health Study, which, through a natural experiment, randomizes individuals to receive Medicaid through a lottery system necessitated because demand exceeded available coverage. The researchers will incorporate items from the Adverse Childhood Experiences questionnaire that measure childhood trauma into their surveys of lottery participants from their 2008 and 2011 panels. Deliverables for this project will include presentations, policy briefs, peer-review publications, and a final report.
