Technical assistance and direction for RWJF's Health Games Research: Advancing effectiveness of interactive games for health program
The Foundation's Health Games Research program was designed to build the field and advance knowledge about the intersection of video/computer games and health and health care through a national program that emphasizes applied research and convening.This grant supports the National Program Office (NPO) to provide continued technical assistance and direction for this Foundation grant program. The NPO plans to achieve its core mission through the granting program and also through scientific leadership involving meetings, presentations, conferences, research, publications, Web content, and press interviews. Beyond these activities, it is working on four projects, including: (1) a survey of video game use in the United States; (2) an online searchable database with information, publications, and resources in the field; (3) Web-based resources such as Research Briefs summarizing current research findings in particular areas, tweets on Twitter, and news stories highlighting the work of individuals and organizations in the health games field; and (4) Body Game Builder, a resource that will help researchers and subject matter experts develop health games inexpensively.
