The Foundation's initiative, New Jersey Partnership for Healthy Kids: Communities Making a Difference to Prevent Childhood Obesity, was designed to support a four-year major initiative to seed community and state partnerships to prevent childhood obesity in New Jersey.The New Jersey YMCA State Alliance is leading the effort to reverse the trend of childhood obesity in New Jersey through the New Jersey Partnership for Healthy Kids initiative. The Partnership targets five cities across New Jersey: Camden, Newark, New Brunswick, Vineland and Trenton. The activities will include: (1) management of the implementation grant phase in the five cities, (2) provide capacity building and technical assistance to coalitions in the five cities through learning events and consultant contracts, (3) create a strategic plan and updated logic model for the state program office, (4) continue to host meetings of the state advisory committee to guide the initiative as it moves forward, and (5) host a regional grantee technical assistance meeting in coordination with the RWJF Center to Prevent Childhood Obesity and a statewide childhood obesity conference. The deliverables for this grant include: (1) a technical assistance plan for the five cities as they start their implementation grants; (2) quarterly State Advisory Council meetings; (3) the state program office strategic plan, a communications plan and updated logic model; and (4) a statewide conference on childhood obesity prevention strategies in New Jersey.
