Providing technical expertise to selected states on expansion of coverage under health reform, 2011-2012

The Foundation's initiative, State Health Reform Assistance Network, was designed to provide technical support and to assist a targeted set of states in implementing the coverage provisions of the Affordable Care Act. The Center for Health Care Strategies (CHCS) will provide technical assistance to Medicaid agencies as part of the State Health Reform Assistance Network. The goal is to help Medicaid agencies preserve coverage today and to prepare for the Medicaid expansion in 2014. Specifically, CHCS will take the lead in providing technical expertise on: (1) benefit design in Medicaid and the state health insurance exchanges; (2) contracting with plans and providers; (3) financing, rate setting and risk adjustment; and (4) state regulations. Deliverables will include monthly calls and written reports on the technical assistance that CHCS is providing to states, individual and group calls with states, site visits, one topic-specific convening, and webinars and publications on best practices.
