Technical assistance and direction for RWJF's Healthy Kids, Healthy Communities program

The Foundation's program, Healthy Kids, Healthy Communities (HKHC): Supporting Community Action to Prevent Childhood Obesity, was designed to catalyze and support policy and environmental change projects to promote children's physical activity and healthy eating, especially in lower-income and racial/ethnic communities at greatest risk.During the fourth year of this program, its National Program Office in providing technical assistance and direction will focus its effort and attention on the following areas: (1) support local partnerships in their efforts to implement sustainable systems, policies and environmental change strategies, especially in lower-income and racial/ethnic minority communities; (2) provide tools and technical assistance to HKHC sites, including assistance in obtaining ongoing non-RWJF funding for their work; (3) where appropriate, collaborate with the RWJF Center to Prevent Childhood Obesity (the RWJF Center) to coordinate technical assistance and deploy a cadre of HKHC leaders to serve as ambassadors and role models for other communities wishing to engage in similar work; and (4) apply the results of research and evaluation through strategic communications and joint activities with other RWJF Childhood Obesity initiatives.
