Supporting United Way of Central Jersey's fund drive, 2011-2012
Although the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation became a national philanthropy in 1972 and has operated on a national scale since then, it also has continued funding a limited number of local institutions and projects in the New Brunswick area and throughout New Jersey. It does so in part to honor the legacy of its founder, and in part to recognize the special responsibilities to the communities and the state in which it is located. This annual grant by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) will help the United Way of Central Jersey (UWCJ) continue to address the most critical health and human-service needs of residents in Middlesex County and in Franklin Township in Somerset County. Funding priorities for 2011-2012 are programs operated by 58 local UWCJ agencies that: (1) support the health and development of young children; (2) help adolescents improve academic performance and make healthy lifestyle choices; and (3) support family self-sufficiency.
