This project will build upon findings from a planning grant that recommended priority activities critical to improve the practice of public health finance in local governmental health departments. Specifically, this project will: (1) develop an independent Web site for public health finance that will provide financial materials, technical assistance and training for public health practitioners; (2) develop a data portal on the Web site of the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) that will allow local health departments to provide their financial data for analysis and for benchmarking with similar health departments; (3) develop and disseminate a syllabus and supplemental materials for a course in public health finance as part of Master of Public Health programs throughout the United States; (4) conduct analyses on financial data; (5) provide training in public health finance at several national meetings; and (6) determine a sustainability plan for the work developed under this grant. Deliverables will include: (1) a Web site for public health finance; (2) a NACCHO data portal for public health finance; (3) training Webinars and in-person sessions; (4) a syllabus and supplemental materials for a course in public health finance; (5) reports on analyses of financial data; and (6) a sustainability plan.
