Technical assistance and direction for RWJF's New Connections program
The Foundation's initiative, New Connections: Bringing Diversity to RWJF Grantmaking and Increasing Secondary Data Analyses, was designed to address needs for data that can inform the Foundation's program planning or measure progress toward its strategic objectives. Among the goals of this program is to bring new investigators and consultants from historically underrepresented communities to the Foundation's awareness. The program funds: (1) junior investigators to perform data analysis that addresses Foundation research priorities; and (2) more senior consultants to conduct projects that focus on research and/or evaluation. New Connections develops and maintains relationships with its grantees and alumni such that they gain increased visibility in, experience with, and understanding of the Foundation. New Connections is also establishing a network of diverse scholars and researchers that will number 1000 by 2012 (currently stands at over 600). This grant provides continued support for technical assistance and direction for this program.
