Short and long term effectiveness of exergames for young adults
For this project, a team from Michigan State University studied effects of Mount Olympus, a 3D fantasy role-playing game that requires players to move their bodies Overweight and inactive college students participated in the study, which randomly assigned them either to play Mount Olympus or to use a motivational web site designed to promote and support physical activity. The extent to which each activity meets an individual's need for competence and autonomy will be examined, in addition to how meeting these needs may motivate engagement in the activity.
This project was funded as part of Health Games Research, a national program of the Pioneer Portfolio dedicated to funding and supporting research to advance the effectiveness of interactive games for health.
