Technical assistance and direction for RWJF's Maximizing Enrollment program

The Foundation's initiative, Maximizing Enrollment for Kids: Making Medicaid and SCHIP Work, was designed to increase health insurance coverage of eligible but uninsured children in Medicaid and SCHIP by helping states improve their policies and procedures and to measure the impact of these changes. This grant will fund: (1) individualized technical assistance to help grantee states develop and implement plans to increase enrollment and retention of eligible children consistent with the findings of the diagnostic assessment; (2) communications and meeting expenses (conference calls, issue briefs, and annual meeting) to enable grantees to share information regarding challenges and effective strategies with other states; and (3) Health Management Associates to adapt the diagnostic assessment tool to create an online self-assessment tool for non-grantee states to use. This grant to the National Academy for State Health Policy will ensure coordination of the program by serving as the liaison between grantees and the Foundation.
