Conducting public opinion research among parents to inform Start Strong's approach and messaging

The Foundation's initiative, Start Strong: Building Healthy Teen Relationships, was designed to fund a national effort to develop and implement effective strategies to prevent relationship violence among youth. This grant will support the Family Violence Prevention Fund (FVPF) in conducting focus groups and survey work with parents and caregivers in each of the 10 communities of the Start Strong: Building Healthy Teen Relationships national program. The primary goal will be to inform the Start Strong initiative's approach and messaging with parents of 11 to 14 year olds in the target population. FVPF, as the national program office for Start Strong, needs to better understand parents' attitudes, perceptions and behaviors regarding healthy teen relationships and dating violence in order to construct a strategy to engage youths in this initiative. The survey will also establish a baseline of parental attitudes that can be tracked to measure their impact in the future.
