Robert Wood Johnson Foundation New Careers in Nursing

The Foundation's New Careers in Nursing Scholarship Program was designed to address the nursing shortage by funding scholarships in accelerated bachelor's degree programs at nursing schools, with preference given to schools that increase the number of students in these programs or increase enrollment and retention of disadvantaged or minority students. The deliverable for this project is $15,000,000 in scholarships for students from underrepresented groups in nursing or disadvantaged backgrounds comprised of 1,500 scholarships of $10,000 each over three years. This is the second technical assistance and direction (TAD) grant for the program. During the first year of the TAD, the National Program Office administered the review process, coordinated the selection meeting, monitored the first round of sites selected for funding, and planned for the recruitment and application process for the next round of grants. This TAD will enable the American Association of Colleges of Nursing to continue this work.
