Evaluating Quality Improvement Training Programs

The 2002 award under the RWJF's Pursuing Perfection program to Cincinnati Children's Hospital served as a catalyst for innovative thinking, accelerated QI efforts, and resulted in the development of two QI training programs, I2S2 and AIM, the targets of this evaluation grant. The I2S2 program is an intermediate level effort intended for leaders at CCHMC. AIM is a more advanced program targeted to academic faculty at CCHMC and open to other organizations as well. Both programs provide active learning opportunities for identifying QI opportunities, designing and executing improvements in the system, and understanding intrinsic motivation, resistance, and effective mechanisms of change leadership. This evaluation will assess the training program, outcomes attributable to training, and contextual and individual factors that influence the success of QI training and outcomes
