Technical assistance and direction for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Center to Prevent Childhood Obesity

This Center, led and housed at the Arkansas Center for Health Improvement, has engaged its strategic partner, PolicyLink, to collaboratively carry out several formative and fundamental tasks. Formative tasks include: developing an infrastructure for communication and close collaboration between the Center, its partner and RWJF; hiring and outfitting 23 full-time staff. Fundamental tasks include: building strategic relationships with, between and among RWJF national program offices, grantees and funding partners; providing hands-on technical assistance to the Foundation's action-oriented grantees; promoting best practices and approaches to information seekers; hosting large and small conferences and meetings; and, supporting community, state, regional and national action programs. Other broad activities that fall under this grant include providing 10 - 40 Strategic Partnership Awards for engaging new partners, Web site development, maintenance and hosting, development of a strategic policy map for the field, and planning and hosting a childhood obesity summit in early 2009.
