The Foundation's initiative, Evaluating Innovations in Nursing Education, was designed to identify, evaluate and disseminate innovative strategies to increase the teaching capacity of nursing schools, as well as to promote the recruitment and retention of nurse faculty, with the long-term goal of educating more students.Dr. Michael Yedidia will serve as the National Program Director of the Evaluating Innovations in Nursing Education program, and a new National Program Office (NPO) will be organized at the Rutgers University Center for State Health Policy. RWJF's goals for the first year of the program are to select the National Advisory Committee (NAC), develop the Call for Proposals (CFP) and online application, and to organize the first competition and selection process. It is the Foundation's plan to have the CFP issued by early November 2008 and the grantees selected by September 2009. During this same time period, Dr. Yedidia is recruiting a Deputy Director and key personnel for the National Program Office. Given the short time line and lack of an organized NPO, the Foundation plans to work with an Administrative Services Organization, SRA International, Inc., to organize key aspects of program development and implementation. SRA International, Inc., will provide a Project Manager, Review Technical Assistant, Data Management and Reporting support, HelpDesk support and a Meeting Manager. Key tasks will be: providing administrative support for the Grantmaking Online applicant and reviewer modules; supporting Web calls for applicants and reviewers; coordinating meeting planning for NAC meetings following the brief and full proposal review stages; and providing timeline and workplan assistance.
