National Institutes of Health/Centers for Disease Control and Prevention/RWJF research collaborative on childhood obesity
This grant supports collaboration by the National Institutes of Health, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to accelerate progress in reversing the childhood obesity epidemic by 2015. The Collaborative on Childhood Obesity Prevention and Control Research (the Collaborative) will coordinate the activities of organizations that fund research, with a focus on families in high-risk communities. This project supports engaging Academy for Educational Development (AED) to develop a coordinating center to facilitate and plan the development and work of the Collaborative. Deliverables will include: (1) development of a strategic plan for the Collaborative; (2) creation of advisory panels and working groups; (3) a research and translation agenda that identifies 12-month, 3-year and 5-year benchmarks; (4) an evaluation plan; (5) a process for staff at each institution to participate in communications planning, review and approval; and (6) communications products, including a Web site, newsletters, press releases and fact sheets.
