Support for a meeting of refugee health coordinators to improve the quality and accessibility of refugee health information

While refugees are guaranteed access to health care upon their arrival into the United States, communities have long struggled to provide appropriate and culturally relevant care. There is a lack of high-quality health information materials in the wide variety of needed languages. The Refugee Health Information Network (RHIN) strives to solve this problem by creating an online repository of peer-reviewed health information materials. RHIN will hold a two-day symposium of state refugee health coordinators at the National Library of Medicine in Bethesda, Maryland, in order to: (1) expand the collection of available materials; (2) establish best practices for materials development; (3) address emerging issues for refugees and their host communities; and (4) bring State Refugee Health Coordinators together for the first time.
