Creating payment systems to accelerate value-driven health care: 2008 summit

The 2008 Network for Regional Healthcare Improvement (NRHI) Summit, Creating Payment Systems to Accelerate Value-Driven Health Care, will build upon the progress that has been made over the last year to support payment reform by: (1) addressing key reform implementation issues; (2) recommending actions to advance reform through state and national policies; and (3) identifying strategies to move payment reform pilot projects forward. One hundred and fifty health care payment and provider leaders from across the country will participate in keynote presentations, focused working sessions and plenary discussions during the conference. Intended outcomes include the development of detailed payment reform recommendations to be considered by the new president, governors as well regional payers, providers and coalitions. Summit participants will also generate proposals for federal agency and private foundation support of payment reform research, technical assistance and risk capital. Collaboration during the working sessions will allow multiple stakeholders to come to consensus on key elements for potential demonstration projects within their respective regions. Proceedings from the conference will be published and the meeting presentations disseminated via the NRHI Web site.
