Building the data infrastructure, analytic capacity and transfer-to-practice framework for public health systems research, 2008-2012

This grant supports the infrastructure at the Association of State and Territorial Health (ASTHO) to increase its capacity to provide periodic and reliable data about state public health. This includes support for two iterations of the ASTHO bi-annual survey. Through this project, ASTHO will expand its staffing and expertise by hiring a Senior Director for Survey Research who will be responsible for the design, dissemination, data analyses and report of the ASTHO State Public Health Surveys. The grant also supports the data harmonization efforts of RWJF by providing funding for ASTHO to participate fully in data harmonization activities and requirements (with NACCHO, NALBOH and others). Finally, the grant supports public health services and systems research by providing high-quality survey data on all aspects of state public health and serving as a resource to practitioners interested in improving public health practice.
