Survey of physical activity environments and policies in Head Start

The Foundation's Active Living Research program was designed to support investigator-initiated research to identify and assess structural, environmental, and policy changes with the potential to increase population levels of physical activity. This project provides supplemental funds for a study originally funded under the Foundation's Healthy Eating Research program to survey all Head Start program directors in the U.S. to assess Head Start program food environment and policies. Specifically, these funds will support the analysis and dissemination of the parallel survey data on Head Start physical activity environments and policies. This supplemental study will provide statistics on Head Start physical activity practices, environments, and policies and how these vary by program characteristics.
