The Foundation's Active Living Research program was designed to support investigator-initiated research to identify and assess structural, environmental, and policy changes with the potential to increase population levels of physical activity. The goals of this project are to assess the intention to be physically active among fifth-grade Hispanic children in home, school, and park environments; explore the association between intention to be physically active and actual physical activity; assess perceptions among these children and their mothers about the physical activity friendliness of home, school, and park environments; assess the relationship of objective environmental cues to intention to be physically active at home, school, and park environments; and explore multi-level factors that are associated with the intention to be active at home, school, and park environments among fifth-grade Hispanic boys and girls. Demographic information, anthropomorphic measures, and objective environmental cues will be collected at children's schools, parks, and at home. This study will employ Ecological Momentary Assessment and accelerometry.
