Further developing the UCLA Health Forecasting Tool to support effective public health practice, community interventions and policy decisions

Assuring effective public health practice at the national, state and local levels is essential to safeguarding and improving population health. RWJF is committed to strengthening the performance of our public health system by providing evidence-based tools that decision-makers can apply to improve health and reduce health disparities. The grantee plans to further refine a health forecasting tool for use by key decision-makers in communities in three states. Long-term success of this project would be widespread adoption of the tool and its application in all states. Deliverables include developing an intuitive web-based interface that will promote usage of the tool, expanding the modeling capabilities to include additional risk factors and disease outcomes, testing the marketing and communications strategy to reach and engage decision-makers, and evaluating the impact of the tool on public health policies, programs and health outcomes.
