The Green House model is a higher-quality alternative to institutional skilled nursing care that represents a radical departure from traditional nursing home practices and physical environments. The Foundation is currently supporting the Green House Replication Initiative, designed to promote the rapid replication and adoption of the model throughout the U.S. This supplemental funding will enable the Initiative to develop and implement benchmarking systems to collect clinical and financial data from Green House adopters. The project will deliver comparative benchmarking and trends data within and across facilities on a spectrum of quality indicators; and comparable operating financial results across multiple adopters. This data will assist Green House providers to maintain and improve quality, while also providing evidence about the model's quality of care and financial viability to potential adopters, consumers, policy-makers and other key stakeholders. The project is consistent with the Foundation's Vulnerable Populations Portfolio's interest in replicating and sustaining innovative models to improve the health and health care of society's most vulnerable people.
