The Foundation's program, Catalyzing a Health Information Environment to Support Individuals and Families, was designed to expand the personal health records vision and encourage the market to develop a variety of products that will meet the diverse needs of patients. This project will develop a transmedia (different media working in concert to fulfill a strategic goal) platform to encourage teenagers to take a proactive role in their personal health care. Emphasis is placed on developing family medical history to serve the teenager in future medical encounters. Also, the group will "speak their language" and deliver health content in a nonjudgmental or authoritarian fashion. To begin, the project will study how teens get health information, and how they perceive that information. This study will be used to develop the transmedia solution.
