The Foundation's program, Catalyzing a Health Information Environment to Support Individuals and Families, was designed to expand the personal health records vision and encourage the market to develop a variety of products that will meet the diverse needs of patients. This project aims to remotely monitor blood glucose, blood pressure and exercise levels via Bluetooth technology and upload to patients' electronic medical records. Cell phones will be used to capture pictures of food eaten by the patient. Medications taken by patients will be checked against data collected. The project hopes to move patient data collection away from a PC to a more mobile platform (hence the use of cell phones to collect data). Cell phones will also be used to blog activities as they occur to be reviewed by a clinician at a later time.
