Common Ground: Transforming Public Health Information Systems

The Foundation's program, Common Ground: Transforming Public Health Information Systems, was designed as collaborative processes among state and local public health departments to advance the use of information systems to support two different programmatic areas--preparedness and chronic disease. The grantee's Public Health Emergency Preparedness and Response program serves a 10-county region. Working with multiple partners, they will improve business processes and information systems in order to increase their capacity to respond to a variety of public health threats. They will diffuse knowledge and skills learned to all agency staff through training videos disseminated via an online learning system and through monthly trainings of senior and program staff. Their partners include local and state partners, neighboring Idaho and Canadian health partners, the University of Washington and community partners (hospitals, emergency management, and others).
