The Foundation's program, Common Ground: Transforming Public Health Information Systems, was designed as collaborative processes among state and local public health departments to advance the use of information systems to support two different programmatic areas--preparedness and chronic disease.The Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention (MCDC), Maine's public health authority, knows from experience that information system development must be unrelentingly driven by functional requirements and has been seeking resources to develop these competencies in public health staff. Common Ground will help MCDC implement it's Strategic Vision and Goals including immediate improvements to statewide public health preparedness planning and information systems development. MCDC's leadership team and project staff will develop, pilot and refine a replicable training program offering modules on business process analysis and collaboratively defining new business requirements.
